Question:

mapping your organization - pick 2 features rated in the Mapping Your Organization Survey. Tell why you rated your organization that way with respect to those two features.

Answers

In the mapping your organization survey, two major features which were focused on are career progression and recognition of work.

Based on the experience I rated career progression opportunities as 2 out of 5 and recognition of work as 4 out of 5. In the company I work, career progression is a challenge majorly due to the bureaucratic policies and the rigid framework which has been setup. The company rules states that one can get promoted to a new role only when a position becomes vacant. So even if there is a deserving candidate who should be in the manager position, there is absolutely no way for the company or the department to allow it. So this would mean, the employee either has to wait till the existing manager position becomes vacant due to that persons movement or resignation.

Or else the employee might choose to move out and get the similar position in another firm. This has been a challenge and that is the reason lot of employees are moving out of the firm. The challenge for the company is to change an age old policy and there has been no inclination of the same.

For recognition part, I have rated them as 4 out of 5 since the firm continuously encourages teams to work well and give them the deserving recognition. Currently if the employee is working hard there are lots of channels through which his hard work can be recognized and this includes monetary recognition too. Every team encourages and supports recognition and this is the reason I rate this feature very highly.
