Question:

If I have a gram negatie bacterium, what are reasons that it would not grow on MacConkey agar???

Answers

Gram negative bacteria grow selectively on MacConkey agar. It inhibits the growth of gram positive bacteria.

The reason some gram negative bacteria might not grow on MacConkey’s agar might be due to the culture conditions like temperature, pH, expiry of the medium, contamination of the medium etc.
