Question:

Discuss how public policies such as tax increases on tobacco or alcohol; or tax incentives for clean energy can serve as levers to bring about change in community health status. Do you think these measures are needed or effective? Why or why not?

Answers

Alcohol and tobacco are the causes for diseases such as liver damage, lung cancers, heart attack, stroke, esophagus cancers, pulmonary diseases, brain damage, osteoporosis, ulcers ,immune system dysfunctions, vitamin deficiency etc.

Taxes increase on unhealthy substances which we consume will cause decrease of consumption of tobbaco and alcohol. It will change what we take and improves health.

Taxes increase will serve as leverage to bring the change in health of the people.

I think this measures are needed and effective because people will think before they buy because it may be because they cannot but them or they may rethink what caused the tax increase.
