Question:

Describe how you could use regression analysis to help make a decision in your current job, a past job, or a life situation. Include a description of the decision, what would be the independent and dependent variables, and how data could ideally be collected to calculate the regression equation.

**Answers must be at least 2 paragraphs**

Answers

Let us consider a real life situation to predict the amount of runs scored in first innings of a T20 cricket match . The dependent variable here is number of runs scored, while the independent variables are the ground temperature (in ℃),maximum size of boundary (in m), number of wickets fallen at the time of arrival and team score at the time of arrival .

The data set given below consists of the runs scored In the 6 matches by the batsmen along with the other mentioned values.

Runs

Temp size wickets team runs
78 35 80 2 36
106 33 72

21
22 37 87 4 88
51 36 69 4 59
86 31 75 3 27
111 30 73 1 2

The regression equation is predicted runs =203.68-1.09 Temp -.62size -8.36wickets -.61team runs

The runs a batsmen will score in a day of temperature 34℃ with the boundary be 76m and the scorecard reads 31/1 will be 92
