Ans a): steam distillation is a type of distillation which is basially used for those material which are temperature senstive for instance natural aromatic compund In case the particular substance is very heat senstive then steam distillatin would be applied under reduced pressureby reducing the operating temperature.
Ans b) ; steam distillation is not the best technique to separate propyl formate from apples , beause (1) propyl formate is slightly soluble in water so its a very difficult task to separate it and stem distillation is more benificial when the other liquid is immisible in water
(2) Steam distillation is a very costly technique which requires alot of maintainance so its not one of the best technique for this separation
