Therefore, the North was capable of produce weapons in a much shorter time than the South, as this was not as industrialized as the North,Another cause was the amount of people in each side. The North had a much bigger population than the South. In addition, many South inhabitants were slaves. Therefore, the North had a bigger potential army than the South and, in fact, a stronger army than it.
