This is a geometric series where r=2.  So your fourth week should be 16.i= 1 and n=4 so your equation is (1-r^n)/(1-r)This would be 1-16/1-2= -15/-1= 15/1 = 15Now just add your initial value (i=1) 1+15 = 16So 16 cakes
